About Our Club
The Gaelic American Club, Inc. (GAC) was founded in 1948 in Bridgeport, CT by a small group of Irish immigrants for the purpose of maintaining and celebrating Irish culture. By promoting social, civic and cultural activities, the GAC continues Fairfield County’s long held Irish traditions and educates future generations.
In 1987 the organization moved to a Fairfield location on the Post Road. In 1992, they again relocated to their current location at 74 Beach Road which was also expanded in 2009. While The GAC club house has grown quite a bit since its modest beginnings, there’s more to our story than that brick and mortar.
Today, besides sharing memories and good craic around the club’s cozy fire place or enjoying the lively atmosphere of the pub – where music can be heard most nights – our members can also take part in a variety of cultural activities which include Irish dance, music, drama, sports and literature.
Ah, but the backbone of the GAC truly lies in its volunteers and committees who generously donate their time and talents to support both the club’s activities and administrative functions. Everyone is encouraged to get involved and share their own unique talents
The Gaelic-American Club continues to grow while maintaining the original mission and vision of our founding members. The GAC has become a beacon of traditional Irish culture in Fairfield County and a “home away from home” for members of Irish descent to gather and enjoy each other’s company.
