Outside Mullingar

NOTICE : This Production has been postponed due to cast illness – as soon as new dates are announced the membership will be notified.

Clan na Gael is pleased to announce the Cast of their Spring production of “Outside Mullingar” by John Patrick Shanley. The four person play features, Tristen Cole, Valerie Huegal, Susan Maxham and Mike O’Mara. The play is being directed by Jillian Plomin and produced by Peg O’Leary.

“Outside Mulligan” is two intertwined stories. A long standing land dispute, between neighbors, which has kept the second story, about a rather one sided romance, on the back of the turf stove for many years. It is by turns, poetic, uplifting, dark and funny!

Production dates:  TBA ~ RESCHEDULED DUE TO CAST ILLNESS

If you would like to be a part of the work, and fun, of putting together the play, please contact,

Clan na Gael is Back!

Under the direction of Mathew Apgar, a Staged Reading of The Walworth Farce was held in early May. Mat and the cast did a fantastic job ‘turning the lights back on’ our stage and we’d like to thank all who attended!

CnG along with Feile, Inc. organized the return of Liz McNicholl’s Childrens’ Interactive Workshop, on Sunday May 30th. This free outdoor event was brought inside due to weather, but we made our rainy day one of music, sing-a-longs, instrument playing, dancing and laughter. Liz even had the kids counting in Irish as well as saying a few phrases – great fun for both kids and adults!

Jillian Polmin is currently running a six-week Actors Workshop for Middle and High School Students which concludes on July 14. For more information contact: jplomin@gmail.com

The CnG board, welcomes three new members, John Moran, Sue O’Hara and Griffin Reidy who along with the rest of the board, have been busy reading scripts for our fall play. And we are now very pleased to announce GnC’s fall production is Second Honeymoon, a rib-tickling comedy by Sam Cree and directed by Peg O’Leary. We urge every-one to come laugh with us as we take back the stage on November 18, 19, 20 & 21.

CnG is an open and welcoming group! If you’d like to get involved as an actor, producer, director, or in any other aspect of the creative team – who help put a production together – please get in touch with us. We love getting new people involved! No Experience Necessary! opeggyo812@gmail.com.

History

The Clan na Gael Players had a humble beginning in 1987. Cardboard sets, lights in tin cans, folks dragged in from the bar to play a part! Ahh, but the audience enthusiasm towards this raggle-taggle group—that’s what made the Clan na Gael Players!

In addition to performing live theatre at the Gaelic-American Club, Clan na Gael has gone on the road to perform elsewhere – civic groups, fundraisers, pubs, schools and libraries. We have toured plays in Ireland twice, in Counties Kerry and Clare, in 2009 and 2016.

From the pens of such well-known playwrights as O’Casey, Gregory, and Keane have come several CnG productions. Equally, we point with pride to the premier productions where we have been privileged to work with playwrights in the creation of their work. Comedy, drama, music, song, dance, well-known and unknown, are all parts of Clan na Gael.

To all, thank you for supporting Clan na Gael! We look forward to continuing our stated purpose of presenting plays by or about the Irish. We hope you will continue to enjoy them as much as we enjoy presenting them to you. Break-a-Leg!
